Wednesday Church School

Wednesday Church School is for children K-5 and meets from 3:30 until 5 every Wednesday during the school year. Children participate in choir for the first 30 minutes (led by Alice and Willard Cottrell), then divide into age appropriate groups to do crafts and Bible lessons (each for 30 minutes). Lessons follow the PCUSA materials and are led by various members of the church. The goal is for the children to develop an understanding of Bible stories, build friendships, and form their own community of believers.

Sunday School

Sunday Morning Sunday School primarily for younger children not in school. However, in some years, we lead a “Worship Preparation” class for children so that they are better able to participate in upstairs worship service. The 2009-2010 school year is one such year.

Preschool Sunday School

Preschool Sunday School is for 3-5 year olds and meets downstairs immediately following Children’s Sermon. They begin with a time of singing and then do crafts and lessons based on the PCUSA curriculum Wee Believe. The intent is not only to build a child’s repertoire of Bible stories, but to develop their sense of spirituality and relationship with God.

Worship Preparation

Worship Preparation is for kindergarteners and 1st graders and meets downstairs right after the Children’s Sermon. They join with the Preschool Class in a time of singing before working through their lessons about the different aspects of the Presbyterian service. Children learn the doxology, the Lord’s Prayer and about such aspects of worship as praise, confession, communion, tithing and prayer.
